Cholesterol Test

High cholesterol levels are a risk factor for strokes, heart attacks and other forms of heart disease However, there aren’t necessarily any warning signs of high cholesterol which is why testing is key. Measuring cholesterol levels is important, particularly if you have:

• Have a diet containing too many foods that are high in cholesterol and saturated fats
• Are a smoker
• Are overweight or obese
• Have diabetes (or pre-diabetes) 
• Drink too much alcohol
• Are concerned they may have a genetic disorder such as familial hypercholesterolaemia
• Do not exercise regularly
• Are concerned about a family history of heart disease or stroke
